In 1937 the English author, critic, curator and fashion historian James Laver created a timeline of how the trends develops.
According to Laver’s Law, when a trend is in fashion, it is – ”smart”. One year before this, it is – “daring” and 20 years later, it becomes – “ridiculous”. But it took 50 years for a trend to begin to creep back into style.
This timeline was working for very long period of fashion history, BUT now days trends are changing within one day or even half of a day, because if 50 years ago the fashion houses were creating the trend, today it is social media that creates them. Fashion house are giving the first and the most important thing, they give the “IDEA” (the concept) and then social media is doing the rest. People sitting at home and using the internet are transforming that IDEA to something unique for them, because everybody has it’s own mind, taste and filling of fashion.

So what are they doing?
They are going to local shop, buying clothes or accessories which they think is the IDEA of fashion houses they like, then they are going somewhere with beautiful view and making photos. After that they are posting their shoots in their social pages (facebook, instagram, snapchat etc.) people who are following them seeing their photos are going to their local stores buy similar clothes (this is the most important part) similar not the same, because for example in Armenia you can’t find the same clothes as in Pennsylvania’s local store and this two people have the same style but different clothes and/or accessories and it continues like chain effect from country to country from continent to continent and voilà we have the thing called “TREND”!!!
Can you imagine how many “TRENDS” are creating during a day?
This is my question for you to think about today and please write in comments what are you thinking about this?
